The Other Side of the Lens
Regardez, c’est moi! Really, it is a little strange to be sitting down and posing for a camera. More so when you have been accustomed to being the one directing the sitters to pose, instead of being the one whose photographs were being taken. That sentiment is precisely what I was feeling during my first ever photoshoot. It has never really occurred to me beforehand how unnerving it is to give the photographer control over their impressions of you to the world.
In the spirit of pushing the self out of the very dangerous comfort zone, I had initiated a very quick, informal photoshoot with a friend of mine.
What ensued afterwards are these sets of photographs which I am thrilled to have since it is such a rare situation to have my face in a sea of photographs I have taken of other people. Thank you, Yien! You can find her on Instagram at @lyaiesun
